Our Key Christian Principles
As Christ-followers, we believe that faith in Jesus, God’s Son, is the only way to eternal salvation. We believe that we are all born into sin and thus separated from God, that grace through Christ offers us our singular pathway back to our Heavenly Father. We further believe that God’s ultimate goal in redemption is an intimate relationship with us, both now and forever. We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, guides us into all truth, including the truth about marriage and the truth about each of our own marriages.
The Bible Is Our Foundation for Marriage
What we believe about marriage is based on our belief that the Bible is the Word of God, that it is true, and that it is the primary way God reveals His truths to us. We don’t profess to be theologians, but what we write and teach is primarily a result of our lengthy and ongoing pursuit of what God’s Word has to say about marriage. We never stop learning.
Marriage Belongs to God
We believe that God created marriage and instituted the first marriage between Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. As such, we believe God’s principles of marriage, as explained to us in His Word and illuminated by the Holy Spirit, are the principles that best teach us how to have a loving, thriving, intimate, and passionate marriage relationship. We understand that much of popular, worldly wisdom regarding marriage will run in opposition to God’s design and the biblical principles that form the basis for our beliefs and teachings.
We Support Diversity of Opinion
Marriage beliefs are not a salvation issue. Jesus is the only salvation issue, and there is no compromise on that. However, we do not condemn or judge others who see marriage differently. We welcome respectful dialogue and the open exchange of ideas. We can all learn from each other.
We Are a Christ-Centered Ministry
Because our understanding of marriage is based primarily on our love relationship with Jesus, we necessarily write and teach with other Christ-followers in mind. We direct our ministry primarily to Christian marriages, not to be exclusionary or to offend non-believers, but because we cannot separate our faith from our marriage beliefs. While we believe the truths of God’s design for marriage are universal, we also believe that they can best be fully grasped through a personal experience with our Bridegroom Savior, Jesus.
