Dare to dream big dreams for your marriage, but don’t try to accomplish them in your own strength.
I have been dreaming with God, and I have huge hopes for what the Lord wants to do through Heaven Made Marriage in the coming year. (More on that soon.) As I was praying through all that was on my heart for this ministry, the Lord brought to mind two Scriptures in a way I had not seen before.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
and
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:5 (NKJV)
Everything and nothing. Two truths in tandem. With Him nothing is impossible. And I can’t possibly do it without Him.

Seek God’s Heart for Your Marriage
In my last two posts, I encouraged you to take the opportunity of the new year to reflect on your marriage and where you might want to see growth in your relationship. (See 5 Essential Holiday To-Do’s That Will Bless Your Marriage and Start 2019 With “Why?“)
If you haven’t yet, I hope you’ll spend some time prayerfully asking the Lord what He wants for your marriage this year. I’m quite sure He has great plans for you – maybe greater than those you have for your self – and I bet He wants to share His heart with you.
As you dream about your marriage with the Lord, keep in mind the idea of “everything and nothing.”
Everything
Regardless of where your marriage is today, no matter how wonderful or challenging things are, God is for your marriage and wants to see you and your spouse thrive together. Remember Jesus’ words to his disciples.
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”
Mark 10:27
That’s a big promise. Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing!
So dream big! Dream of a marriage full of all the passion and intimacy you can imagine. Ask God for that and more.
Nothing
It’s essential to remember the second half of the “anything and nothing” concept. You can’t do it in your own strength, and God doesn’t even want you to try.
It is God’s supernatural strength and love that will get the job done. Your part in this is to abide in Jesus and to put intimacy with Him as high on your list as intimacy with your spouse. Listen to Him and follow the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He’s got this. He’s got you. He’s got your spouse and your marriage.
I love The Passion Translation of the Philippians verse.
I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.
Philippians 4:13 (TPT)
We Serve a God Of Miracles
If you need a miracle in your marriage, believe that God is more than able to do it in His power.
If your marriage is “fine” but you want it to be “fantastic,” believe that God wants the same for you.
If your marriage is great but you want
I’ll leave you with these lyrics from the song, God of Miracles, by Chris McCLarney.
